As you might have noticed from the project I sent last week, the target group for this year’s summer activity has changed. It is no longer children from the age of 2 to 13 like last year’s activity, but pre-adolescents and adolescents ( from the age of 13 to 17).
I personally think it’s good to start with this age group (closer to the age of the volunteers) than with a younger group which could be more difficult to work with (more time could be needed, more training for the volunteers, more work on the educative material). If this activity works well this year, we can expand it next year to other age groups.
What do you think of this “strategy”?

It will be easier to work with them for the movie part, I guess we could arrive to something richer since more abstract, more creative and more challenging for us. The final product will complete also nicely the sawa1 movie which reflected our encouter with kids.
As for the education for peace project, I guess all depends on the amount of material we find to work with teenagers, we could experiment. Just a detail, volunteers from 17-18 as initially scheduled will difficultly attend at peers. What we could do then, and it works at our advantage since this is what Elizabeth Rbeiz from osseiran foundation was offering us to become partners on, is to train the same university students they will use for their own one month real summer camp and own movie about resolving conflcits….Chou ra5yiko?

comme l’a dit Hania que le fait de travailler le court metrage avec une autre tranche d’age pourrait etre tres interessant en terme de continuité et au niveau du produit final.. , mais je ne suis pas sure qu’au niveau du projet en general, les 15-17 ans seraient plus gérables, en pleine crise d’adolescence et qui sont plus imprevisibles et “indomptables” que les plus petits, meme si ces derniers demandent plus d ‘attention de notre part.
Aussi il ne faut pas oublier que le projet ne doit pas etre pensé en fonction de nous mais des enfants et de leurs parents, c’est l’impression que j’ai eu le lisant notamment au niveau des objectifs.
